Summary

Antigravity is Google’s bet that the IDE is a transitional surface and the agent manager is the product. The Nov 2025 launch proved the “agent manager” concept (strip away the IDE, focus on conversations/artifacts/multi-agent control); 2.0 doubles down by making the manager a standalone app and pushing the same harness out as a CLI, an SDK, and a raw API (Managed Agents).

It’s the most “platformy” of the agent IDEs: not just an editor, not just a CLI agent, but a stack — agent harness, orchestration UI, cloud managed agents, and enterprise packaging. The strategic tell is that Google is routing its whole dev-tooling narrative (AI Studio, Android vibe-coding, Workspace APIs) through the Antigravity harness.

Status: active — platform expansion, enterprise push. antigravity.google is live; the current headline is Antigravity in Gemini Enterprise (Aug 20, 2026) with new IDE extensions for other editors, and the I/O 2026 stack (2.0 app + CLI + SDK + Managed Agents). Enterprise traction cited: AirAsia generating 50%+ of production QA code with it. Direction of travel: agent management as a Google platform, not a one-off IDE.
