IDE Matrix: AI coding editors and agentic IDEs

The IDE Matrix is a living catalog of agentic IDEs: AI coding editors, VS Code forks, browser-based app builders, and CLI agents. Each card is a screenshot plus a short brief from actually using the tool — not a vendor landing page.

If you already write code, start with Cursor or Visual Studio Code. If you want a browser builder, look at Lovable, Bolt, Replit, or v0. For agents on a repo, try Factory, Amp, Claude Code, or Cline.

Cards use that tool’s screenshot as a thumbnail. Open one for the product site, what it is good at, and a dated status note.

The collection is grouped by how you run the tool, not by marketing category:

  • VS Code forks — Cursor, Windsurf, Kiro, TRAE, and others that start from Code - OSS
  • The base editorVisual Studio Code itself, now shipping an agents window and Agent Host
  • Browser builders — Lovable, Bolt, Replit, v0, Base44, Figma Make, and similar tools that ship a web or mobile app from a prompt
  • CLI and desktop agents — Factory, Amp, Codex, Claude Code, Cline, OpenCode, Warp, Junie, Google Antigravity, and harnesses that work against a real repo
  • Autonomous engineers — Devin and Google Jules, cloud VM agents that open a PR
  • Mobile and games — A0, Bloom, Rork, Rosebud, Steer Code
