2026.09.08
Section titled “2026.09.08”Status: active — and far beyond “prompt to prototype.” Still live (figma.com/make), now branded Figma Make, and it’s grown into a real full-stack app builder, not just a designer’s toy.
- Now builds apps with a real backend: connect to Supabase for auth, user data, and private APIs; can publish apps and export the code. Browser-only prototypes still work; it’s no longer limited to that.
- GPT-5.6 added (July 2026); model selector offers multiple models. Added “Make kits” & attachments for real component/data context (Apr 2026).
- Big May 2026 shift — “Figma Make on your local code”: a limited beta (Mac desktop) to work inside your production codebase — direct editing, annotations, chat, PR creation, and round-tripping designs back into Figma Design. The goal: close the loop between design canvas and shipping code.
- Free Starter plan; publishing + code editing on paid tiers. 2026 positioning: “idea to app in seconds,” aimed squarely at designers/PMs building UI-first MVPs and internal tools.
