Google Opal

- nocoders can build AI mini-apps by linking together prompts, models, and tools
- similar to the mix of nocoder tools (n8n, lindy, make, etc) where you can chain things together, but here you can just prompt it.

Section titled “2026.09.08”Status: active — still an experimental Google Labs product (no shutdown), but very capped. Live and expanding.
- Launched as a US-only beta July 24, 2025; by 2026 it’s expanded to 160+ countries and is completely free during its Labs beta (no paid tier announced as of 2026).
- Dec 17, 2025: it started appearing inside the Gemini app’s “Gems” manager — build/reuse a mini-app without leaving regular Gemini chat.
- Agentic “Automated Workflows” mode added Feb 2026 — an agent step that plans & executes multi-step tasks autonomously, can prompt for missing inputs and select tools on its own.
- Big limitations remain (unchanged from your note): no code export, no self-hosting, no external APIs beyond Google’s walled garden, no real database layer, no RBAC/version control. It’s for single-session micro-tools (quiz generator, video summarizer), not production software — so your “chain prompts together” framing is still the right mental model.
